Middle East Aviation – Past, Present & Future, Celebrating the 10th Dubai Airshow, is a special commemorative
hardback and semi-hardback publication consisting of 290 full colour pages in outsized A4 format, produced to
mark the 10th Anniversary of the Dubai Airshow, whilst highlighting the phenomenal success of aviation and the
aerospace sector across the Middle East.
Middle East Aviation – Past, Present & Future, Celebrating the 10th Dubai Airshow, was published by the Times
Group on behalf of Fairs & Exhibitions, in association with the Department of Civil Aviation, the Government
of Dubai and in collaboration with the UAE Armed Forces.
Although aviation in the Gulf is relatively recent - with the Gulf’s sandy landing strips initially merely
refuelling stops for early flying pioneers on their way from Europe to Asia - the past 20 years have seen
dramatic change as passenger transport has gone from limited inter-Gulf air travel to Middle East airlines
carrying more passengers per year than their country’s entire population. This publication acknowledges the
benefits that the growth of aviation has brought to the region, the pivotal role of the Dubai Airshow in the
regional development of aviation and aerospace, whilst examining some of the strategies designed to continue
the success of civil air transport and business aviation throughout the Middle East region.
The in-depth coverage of this publication includes many of the key issues and developments relating to aviation
in the region, including the impact of substantial investment in airport infrastructure, new aircraft and
innovative technologies - in areas such as propulsion systems, avionics, (satellite) communications, cockpits and
cabins - and how aviation growth has led to greater investment in MRO.
